Coaching and mentoring

Supporting Young People To Thrive

Coaching and mentoring that helps neurodivergent children and young people understand themselves, build confidence and use strategies that work in real school life.

What coaching focuses on

Practical, personalised and paced to the young person

Sessions are led by the young person's own goals, with strategies shared with the adults around them where that is agreed.

  • Emotional regulation
  • Confidence building
  • Self-advocacy
  • Managing change
  • Flexibility of thinking
  • Neurodivergent identity
  • Social understanding

Where sessions take place

Three ways to access coaching

  • In the child's school or setting
  • At the Sensational Minds centre in Colchester
  • Online where that suits the young person

In short

Where does coaching take place?

Coaching and mentoring can be delivered in the child's school, in person at The Chill Out Centre in Colchester by appointment, or online. Schools can commission coaching directly and families can arrange it themselves.

Young people do best when the adults around them understand what helps.

Questions about coaching

Written to be genuinely useful, and short enough to read at the end of a long day.

Can families access this support directly?
Yes. Education Navigation is designed for families. It helps parents and carers understand SEN Support, EHCP processes, placement options and transition planning so they can take part in meetings with confidence.
How do we get started?
Book an education consultation. We will talk through your setting or your situation, suggest a proportionate starting point and confirm costs in writing before any work begins.
How much does education work cost?
Costs depend on the scope, format and length of the work. Consultation, training and partnership pricing is quoted individually after a short discovery conversation, and confirmed in writing before anything is booked.
