School consultation

Helping Schools Navigate Complex Situations

Specialist educational consultation for the situations that do not fit a standard plan, delivered by professionals who understand both classrooms and neurodevelopment.

Complex case support

Schools increasingly face complex situations

Situations rarely arrive neatly labelled. They usually involve several of the following at once.

  • Neurodevelopmental differences
  • Mental health needs
  • Family concerns
  • Assessment pathways
  • SEND provision
  • EHCP support

Sensational Minds can provide specialist consultation around

  • Individual children and young people
  • Provision planning
  • Review meetings
  • Parent communication
  • Multi-agency work
  • Neurodevelopmental understanding

We are not an advocacy service. We are specialist educational professionals, helping schools and families work collaboratively towards practical and achievable solutions.

Assessment pathway support

Turning Assessment Information Into Educational Action

Schools often ask the same question when a report lands: what do we do with this?

We help schools

  • Understand assessment outcomes
  • Translate recommendations into practice
  • Develop meaningful support plans
  • Strengthen educational provision
  • Identify appropriate next steps

Support may also include

  • Assessment pathway guidance
  • Referral preparation
  • Information gathering
  • Monitoring Assessment Planning Review support

Where appropriate, we support schools to ensure the right information is available for referral pathways.

In short

What does school consultation involve?

A consultation is structured specialist thinking time. We review the information available, discuss the child or young person with the team, consider what the presentation may be telling us, and agree practical next steps for provision, communication and review. Consent is agreed before any individual case is discussed.

Answers

Questions about consultation

Written to be genuinely useful, and short enough to read at the end of a long day.

Are you an advocacy service?
No. We are not an advocacy service. We are specialist educational professionals. Our aim is to help schools and families work collaboratively to identify practical and achievable solutions that support positive outcomes for the child or young person.
Can you consult about an individual pupil?
Yes. Complex case consultation is one of the most requested parts of our work. With appropriate consent in place, we can look at the information available, help the team make sense of it and agree practical next steps for provision and communication.
Do you help schools use assessment reports?
Yes. Schools often ask what to do with a report. We help translate assessment outcomes and recommendations into support plans, provision and classroom practice, and identify what should be monitored and reviewed.
How much does education work cost?
Costs depend on the scope, format and length of the work. Consultation, training and partnership pricing is quoted individually after a short discovery conversation, and confirmed in writing before anything is booked.
