For schools

Working with schools and SENCos

Evidence you can put straight into provision maps, SEN support plans and EHC needs assessment requests.

What we offer

Four ways we work with settings

Pupil assessment

Full neurodevelopmental assessment with school liaison built in, including classroom observation where consented.

Consultation clinics

Regular sessions with your SEN team to think through pupils of concern before referral, with written summaries.

Staff training

Twilight and INSET sessions on neuroaffirming practice, masking, demand avoidance and sensory-aware classrooms.

EHCP evidence

Reports structured around need, impact on access to education, and provision described in specific, quantified terms.

"I cannot speak highly enough of Rhiann and her colleagues at Sensational Minds. She is one of the few adults that my son trusts, and has been an incredible support to our entire family as we navigate through the EHCP process. I don't know what we would do without her!"

Answers

Questions schools ask

Written to be genuinely useful, and short enough to read at the end of a long day.

Can a private report be used for an EHCP application?
Yes. Local authorities must consider all evidence submitted with a request for an Education, Health and Care needs assessment, including private reports. Our reports are structured to support that process: they describe need, the impact on access to education, and provision in specific, quantified terms rather than general advice. We cannot guarantee an outcome, and the statutory decision always rests with the local authority.
Do you observe pupils in school?
Where families consent and the school agrees, yes. A classroom or playground observation adds context that no questionnaire captures, particularly for pupils who present very differently at home and at school.
Can you deliver training for our staff?
We run twilight and INSET sessions on neuroaffirming practice, sensory-aware classrooms, demand avoidance and supporting girls and masking pupils. Sessions are tailored after a short call with your SENCo.

What schools and families say

"Receiving our son's autism diagnosis has made such a positive difference. It has given us a much deeper understanding of him, the way he experiences the world and why certain things can be challenging for him. Instead of feeling unsure or worried, we now feel empowered to support him in the right ways so he can thrive and be fully understood. What also meant so much to us was that the care didn't stop once the diagnosis was given."
